Welcome

This scenic part of New England has so much to offer for vacationers. From spending a lazy day at the beach or out on the ocean for a wale watching or scenic cruise, the Seacoast of New Hampshire and southern Maine is a wonderful place to stay and play. Within this guide will find a Beach Guide that outlines locations of some of the more popular beaches and the amenities they offer. Pack a lunch or a good book and enjoy a day of swimming, surfing or simply relaxing in the sun.

After spending some time at the beach, make sure to allow for other family-friendly attractions, such as shopping, outdoor sports, boating, summer theatre and entertainment. And bring your appetite for some delicious New England seafood. Nearby Newburyport, Mass. offers whale watches, harbor cruises and Isles of Shoals cruises.

Several of the towns along the coastline date back to the early Colonial era, with an abundance of historic homes, museums and other sites that are as fun as they are educational. Check out historic towns like Kittery and Portsmouth or enjoy a visit to Strawbery Banke, the living history museum in Portsmouth. Other historic points of interest include “Historic New England” which features seven historic homes in the Seacoast region.

Plenty of shopping opportunities abound in this region. Kittery, Maine is famous for its outlet shopping malls while one of the largest malls in New Hampshire, the Fox Run Mall, can be found a short distance away in Newington. Many small, locally owned shops are found here as well. Kick back, relax and enjoy your seaside vacation!
